Goodbye, Summer!

Hey, guys!

I hope you had a glorious summer filled with sun-soaked, sandy days and cool evenings under the stars. This summer was one of long, sunny walks, dripping ice cream cones, and fun-filled trips for us! Did I get any writing done? No, but we enjoyed every second of the beautiful New England summer weather.

Now, it’s fall. The most beautiful season New England has to offer. Cool mornings and sunny afternoons. Boots and wool socks while the leaves turn a flaming red and gold. And more time to cozy up at my table and get to typing!

My goal is still to finish Rose’s Reign by the end of this year, and while I didn’t write much over the summer, we’re still on track to complete it. The current goal is to have the first draft complete by December 1st.

This year has been a boom in reading for me, for sure! I’m already on book 15/15 that I told myself I’d read this year. My favorite currently has been the Stormlight Archives. Mistborn has been a favorite trilogy of mine for years at this point, but I'd never really read outside of the two in that series. Which is funny, considering Way of Kings has sat on my shelf for close to five years at this point just waiting to be read. I’m now on Oathbringer and truly OBSESSED with this series! Kaladin is by far one of the best male main characters I’ve seen written in years. While Oathbringer has been the hardest to get through (it’s just so dang long!) I’ve still heartily enjoyed it and can’t wait to read the next two in the series.

In more personal news, we recently decided to get chickens, making my dream of a small homestead slightly more real. I love gathering eggs each morning with my daughter as the sun peaks over the trees. Between the chickens, garden, and small herbal remedies I make at home, we’ve definitely leaned into the dream of slow, intentional, holistic living.
