The Moment You've All Been Waiting For

Yes, I Actually Finished Writing Rose's Ruin

The Moment You’ve All Been Waiting For

It only took three and a half years, but the first draft for Rose’s Ruin is finished!

cheering ensues

This story has been a journey to write. The idea of a story in Pan’s POV came to me several years back, but I never imagined how his character would grow and develop through this story. I believe readers will understand Pan on a whole new level if they were to go back and read Rose’s Wrath.

Finishing this story, even if it was only 22k words, has been such a growing moment for me. I haven’t finished writing a story beginning to end since Rose’s Wrath over four years ago. I have never stopped writing, but I had stopped writing with the passion I used to. But writing continues to be one of my favorite things to do, my one & only tried & true hobby turned indie career. To finish Rose’s Ruin has reaffirmed so many things I believe about myself. I am a writer. I can continue publishing novels.

Rose’s Ruin has been a refining moment for me. It was the story I wrote when I didn’t want to. The story I stuck with even when I wanted to scrap the whole thing.

Sometimes we write, not because we want to, but because we know we’ll never get better unless we keep trying. Is Rose’s Ruin my favorite thing I’ve written? No. But goodness, has it taught me a lot. Somehow those 22k words shaped me a lot more than the 55k that is Rose’s Wrath.

I’m hoping to have Rose’s Ruin published by the summer, hopefully even sooner. I already have a cover which you in newsletter will get access to before anyone else. I am also looking for a couple people to read Rose’s Ruin as-is for some overarching feedback on content & pacing. I will put the link for the form below, as I want my newsletter people to get access first.

Before I close up this post, I wanted to share how life is going. And honestly, it’s been so good. Challenging at times, but still just as sweet. Our sweet baby girls seven months now, crawling all over the place, and trying to teach herself to stand (pray for us, haha!). She lives life with such joy and it has been such a privilege watching her grow. I’m hoping to publish Rose’s Ruin before her birthday!

Have a blessed rest of the month, guys! Here’s a picture of the cutest little dinosaur outfit on the cutest little girl.
